About The Author

David Jones lives in Co. Meath and has been writing for a number of years.

He first took the plunge into self-publishing in 2009 after losing his job unexpectedly. The resulting Oh No I've Lost My Job, What am I Going to Do? (also available from The Author's Friend) was a big hit and spurred him on to develop a new career as an author and publisher.

In addition to self-help books and social commentary he has also written two novels to be published shortly.

Ireland is in an economic and political mess. The Celtic Tiger did us no favours. It has left us with unquantifiable problems. The Government is borrowing billions to prop up the Banks and plug a massive hole in the public finances. We are losing jobs by the thousand.

The country is desperate for leadership, yet we have the most unpopular government in our history that seems interested only in clinging to power. Our political system seems incapable of solving our difficulties. Our health and education services are tottering on the brink of collapse.

People all over the country feel the effects of a recession that is far worse than in the 1980's. We now have more potholes than people.

The pothole has replaced the shamrock as Ireland's national symbol. Is it any wonder given the mess we are in?

The Pothole Republic by David Jones.
